QA Testing
Playtest Reviews
Technical Summary:
At the end of February, we took part in playtests between our two classes, having people come and test the game we'd spent the past month developing. We had to record the testers play through of the game, as well as have them fill out a feedback form to help us understand what should be a focus in the Beta Phase of the project, and most painful of them all, giving no guidance at all and letting them freely explore the game.
Reflection:
The feedback definitely helped understand that there was a clear lack of understanding in what the player is able to do and the intentions of the gameplay, and we should definitely explore different options in how we can promote exploration and guidance throughout the level. The only real point of improvement would to be more prepared for this situation, this was something we had no notice on, so we were caught of guard. If we'd of had ample time to prepare for this, I would have sooner realised that the recording software wasn't recording the gameplay at all, and having more computers set up with the game so that we could have more feedback and gameplay, even if the small amount of feedback we received had some benefit.
